Remember when curfew was determined by the street lights coming on...

Modern lamps have light-sensitive photocells to turn them on at dusk and off at dawn, or activate automatically in dark weather. Back in the day, parents and their kids would use street lights as a curfew monitor. When the street light turned on, it was time to go inside. It was safer then to play outside with your neighborhood friends and not have to drive across the city to get to somebody's house. Kids were allowed to go blocks away from their house and when the street lights came on, it was a tacit rule for everyone to get back to their houses because it was getting late. Today, the crime rate is ridiculous and it's not possible to be outside of your house with a bunch of little kids until dusk. Back in the good ol' days, perverts, pedafiles, and rapists were not nearly as popular and as threatening as they are today. It's ashame that our generation can't manage to score with people their own age and that are actually willing to be with them and so they result to violence or kidnapping.

Remember when singers were allowed to get high and not be frowned upon for doing so

Bob Marley was probably the biggest crackhead of his time, but he had probable cause. Many people do not know that Marley was fighting with cancer. In July 1977, Marley was found to have acral lentiginous melanoma, a form of malignant melanoma, in a football wound on his right big toe. Marley refused amputation, because of the Rastafari belief that the body must be "whole". The cancer then metastasized to Marley's brain, lungs, liver, and stomach. As a result, Bob Marley looked to weed and bongs as a way to escape his pain and live freely for the amount of time that he had left on earth.

Remember before Xbox 360, Game Cube, the Wii, and PS2, there was Super Nintendo...

Before XBox, Wii, Game Cube, Dreamcast, and PS3 where even thought of, Super Nintendo was the must have electronic. Games such as Power Rangers, Super Mario Smash Brothers, Super Mario, Legends of Zelda, and Mortal Kombat were the games that everybody was gossiping about and sharing new techniques and cheats. "The Super Nintendo Entertainment System was Nintendo's second home console, following the Nintendo Entertainment System(NES). The console introduced advanced graphics and sound capabilities that compensated for its relatively slow CPU, compared with other consoles at the time. Additionally, the system's support for numerous enhancement chips (which shipped as part of certain game cartridges) helped to keep it competitive in the marketplace.
The SNES was a global success, becoming the best-selling console of the 16 bit era despite its relatively late start and the fierce competition it faced in North America from Sega's Genesis console. Some consider the SNES to embody the "Golden Age of video games", citing its many groundbreaking games and the perceived focus on gameplay over graphics and technical gimmicks.Others question this perceived romanticism, believing the system was just another step in the evolution of video game technology."

Remember When: Converse were the most common shoes used in the NBA

Yeah, that's right. The same Converse sneakers that you see the skaters, rock bands, and indies wearing are the ones that NBA superstars, such as Dr. J, sported whenever they played in a game. Converse were originally created for basketball players with their firm grips on the bottoms and the protection of the ankles that the high tops offered. When players such as Dr. J wore the sneakers, they were called Chuck Taylors. "In his late 30s, Marquis M. Converse, who was previously a respected manager at a footwear manufacturing firm, opened the Converse Rubber Shoe Company (also known as the Boston Rubber Shoe Company) in Malden, Massachusetts in 1908. The company was a rubber shoe manufacturer, providing winterized rubber soled footwear for men, women, and children. By 1910, Converse was producing 4,000 shoes daily, but it wasn't until 1915 that the company began manufacturing athletic shoes for tennis. The company's main turning point came in 1917 when the Converse All-Star basketball shoe was introduced. Then in 1921, a basket ball player named Charles H. or "Chuck Taylor" walked into Converse complaining of sore feet. Converse gave him a job. He worked as a salesman and ambassador, promoting the shoes around the United States, and in 1923 his signature was added to the All Star patch. Converse also customized shoes for the New York Renaissance (the "Rens"), basketball's first all African American pro basketball team. The Converse brand is generally considered to be synonymous with basketball shoes."

Remember when: Michael Jackson used to be the "King of Pop"

The "King of Pop" was the title given to Michael Jackson when he first debuted his solo career at age 11. Michael Jackson was born on August 29, 1958 in Gary, Indiana. After The Jackson 5 family group split up, Michael took his frustration and grief to the recording studios and produced music that even today's artists couldn't compare to. 5 of his albums are charted as some of the world's greatest selling pop albums such as Off The Wall(1979), Thriller (1982), Bad (1987), Dangerous (1991) and HIStory (1995). "Jackson has donated and raised several hundred million dollars for beneficial causes, through his Dangerous World Tour, charity singles and support of thirty-nine charities. However other aspects of his personal life has generated significant controversy; plastic surgery, a lightening skin tone due to vitiligo and eccentric behavior have damaged his reputation among the public. He was accused of child sexual abuse in 1993, although the matter was settled out of court. Jackson was tried, and later acquitted, of further child molestation allegations and several other charges in 2005. Jackson has been the subject of long term financial difficulties and health concerns." Michael Jackson has been indited into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice.

Remember when: Cell Phones were the size of a small monkey

Only 15 years ago, the first cell phone was approved by the FCC in the United States. Of course, the technology back then was far more inferior to the technology today and so the first cell phone was the size of brick and weighed about 8lbs. The more sophisticated cell phones in the 80s were carried around like a suitcase and weighed about 12lbs. Until the early 1990s, most mobile phones were too large to be carried in a jacket pocket, so they were typically installed in vehicles as car phones. As cell phones became smaller and lighter, more people became interested in and bought them. 15 years after the first cell phone was approved and weighed 8lbs, we are constantly making new phones some of which way no more than 8oz.

Remember when: Rappers Didn't Mumble About Sex, Drugs, and Bitches & Hoes

Remember when the big time famous rappers didn't always have to rap about sex, money, drugs, and all the girls they're always banging. Example, RUN DMC, multi-million dollar rap group who usually talked about their lifestyles, fashion statements, and songs that were just fun to sing along with. Rev Run, DMC, and Jam Master Jay are the three guys that make up RUN DMC and they began producing singles in the year 1983. Just a few years ago, 2002, Jam Master Jay was shot and killed and the remaining members of the group decided it was time to call it quits. The music that they made is upbeat, funny, and easy to sing along with. Their music is so clean, Radio Disney could probably play it. R.I.P. RUN DMC.
